I am Bombshell - Meet Babalwa

I am Bombshell - Meet Babalwa

Babalwa is one of the 12 women featured in this year’s I Am Bombshell campaign. She’s walked through IVF, loss, health challenges and big life changes — and come out choosing acceptance and positivity. Her story is about embracing the physical and emotional shifts that come with life, and celebrating them as part of her beauty

Which part of B.O.M.B.S.H.E.L.L. do you relate to most right now, and why?

Emotional.

My life been such a rollercoaster, from IVF, being diagnosed with Diabetes and gaining weight, losing my mother in law. Its been super hard.

Tell us a little more about yourself.

Definitely my IVF journey. I talk about it everywhere I go and I have a page on TikTok that I share my journey on. Our bodies are different, no woman should be made to feel less of a woman because they aren't able to conceive.

What does beauty mean to you at this stage of your life?

Being content with all the small changes. I turned 40 in May and my hair immediately started being grey on most parts. I'm obsessed with my Grey hair. Embracing these natural physical changes has been such a booster.

What does wellness look like for you — honestly?

Taking all my vitamins, drinking plenty of water and going hiking from time to time(a hobby I just started). I make sure to have a full skin ritual at least twice a week

Why did you want to be part of the “I Am a B.O.M.B.S.H.E.L.L.” campaign?

I love spreading positivity, and accepting ourselves with all our flaws is what keeps me going. I'm all for everything woman.

How have Bombshell products supported your wellness or beauty journey?

I know it might sound cliché, but Marine Collagen has genuinely been a game-changer for me. I've noticed a significant improvement in how I feel — I’m more active, more energized, and I just feel rejuvenated. And the skin? Get out of here! It’s glowing!

The Probiotic pills have also been life-changing. I used to struggle with regularity — I’d go once every three days, if I was lucky. Now? I’m going every day, sometimes even more than once (TMI, I know) — but honestly, gut health is everything, and I feel so much lighter and healthier.

Final words from Babalwa

To every woman reading this:

You are beautiful. You matter. You are loved. And you are more than enough.

I speak from experience. I’m a passionate advocate for women’s health because I’ve been through the fire. I was diagnosed with endometriosis, fibroids, and adenomyosis, and in the process of trying to resolve these issues, I lost both of my fallopian tubes.

There was a time I felt like I was drowning. Society — especially in our black communities — places such heavy expectations on us. You’re not considered a “real wife” until you’ve had a child. But my journey taught me otherwise. I underwent IVF, and today I’m the proud mother of a beautiful 3-year-old IVF princess  and a gorgeous 19 year old daughter (conceived naturally when I was younger).

Since then, I’ve made it my mission to remind women that you are enough — even if your journey looks different. You don’t need to suffer in silence. There is no shame in choosing unconventional paths.

This Women’s Month, I honour every woman who is fighting a silent battle. I see you. I celebrate you. You are powerful, resilient, and worthy.

You are a Bombshell.

Acceptance is power, Babalwa. Thank you for embracing every part of your journey and sharing it with courage. You are Bombshell!
